FDA Standards on GE Animals

On September 18th the FDA released their new standards for genetically engineered food. You can view the guidelines here. The FDA is accepting public comment until November 18.

The only genetically altered animal to reach consumers so far are GloFish.

All animals must be tested and approved by the FDA. GE animals' environmental impact must also be evaluated before approval.
